Forsake Not The Assembling Of
Ourselves Together
A writing by Kenneth B Visscher
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the
manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see
the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25 King James
Version
Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as
believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging,
and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day
approaching. Hebrews 10:25 AMPLIFIED
I wish in this writing to take one part of this section out of context for a moment to explain what I see as ‘forsaking assembly’. For there is much condemnation on those who would overcome in this hour because they are not part of general assemblies in churches or places of gathering with other Christians. It is not my intent to cut this verse out of context with the surrounding verses which are equally as important, but rather to just view the one thing I wish to write on which is about ourselves coming together into assembly.
It
must be understood that when God chooses someone to walk with Him in deeper
fellowship than those around them, it is very costly. For the Lord when He is
choosing out of the Gentile Nations a people for His name, SEPARATES THEM UNTO
HIMSELF. Acts 15:14. He takes them away from the assemblies of men who have
built monuments to their invented doctrines and notions about God and has
instead set them apart unto Himself to be processed and refined by the fires of
His judgment. The person who hears the higher call to come close to the Lord
does not ‘fit in’ with the systems around, but rather the Spirit of Truth gives
them a doubt about what they see and the result is a soured relationship. It is
from these assemblies that God says “Wherefore come out from
among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean
thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be
my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 KJV The entire system one is in when they begin this adventure
of walking out with God by faith is said by God to be “unclean”. In no wise can
anyone who hears the deeper call of God come into an assembly or remain a part
of an assembly that has even the smallest percentage of error within it. The
error would be a doctrine written in a statement of faith which would
contradict the Spirit of Truth who is working to bring restitution to all of
creation.
The hurled accusations by those
we forsake can be hurtful. We feel judged by other Christians who are dressing
nicely, attending their services and then attending to the buffet line
afterwards. We cannot walk with them or be a part of this at all because God
has set us aside by His sovereign hand.
So then let me set right Hebrews
10:25 as relates to gathering together unto Him.
1)
Gathering together unto Him is to be just that. Unto HIM. Not unto
a doctrine that is made by a denomination and holds a distorted view of the
Lord. Not unto a man in a wooden or fancy pulpit. The only time a pulpit is
mentioned in scripture is in Nehemiah 8:4 and its sole purpose was to hold the
weight of the law. Not unto a cause or
an attempt to bring forth something that is supposedly of the Lord when in fact
it may be man made effort. Our gathering is to be UNTO HIM ALONE. For the first
stage in overcoming is to exult and worship and praise the Lord alone and to
lift up the name of Jesus ALONE outside of all other things. He alone is to be
exalted. “And the loftiness of man shall be bowed
down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be
exalted in that day. And the idols he shall utterly abolish.” Isaiah 2:17-18
2)
Our gathering is not in unrighteousness, but in righteousness. For
it is a gathering wherein the members of the Lord’s church in spirit are
bearing their crosses and are not exemplifying or exalting their own position
in the body of believers. The gathering of ourselves together comes by the Lord
fitting us into our individual places as whole living stones in His church upon
which no man has lifted any iron. Deuteronomy 27: 4-7. Unrighteous assembly
would constitute a gathering that is made by our own effort or ambition around
that which we think is appropriate before God. This is the group that jostle
for position and are fitting in by their own efforts. Christ is to build His
church, and we are to fit in as we yield to His workings in us.
3)
The assembling with others is foreign to the overcomer as most of
them have been in loneliness for many long years. However the Lord has
indicated that bone to bone assemblies will begin with those whom He has chosen
to first appear in when He comes. There is going to be a gathering together of
the people of God in perfect unity of fellowship, however it will not be large
numbers, but small numbers. It won’t be in organized time frames, but in a
camaraderie of fellowship which cannot be broken. This will be true fellowship
around the person of the Lord wherein He alone is glorified along with His purpose
of restoring all things back unto full fellowship with God. However, this
fellowship that is now happening between those who are overcoming this world is
a fellowship not seen since the early church in the book of Acts. I believe
that this fellowship of gathering is the latter house which will be more
glorious than the former. “For thus saith the LORD
of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the
earth, and the sea, and the dry land; And I will shake all nations, and the
desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith
the LORD of hosts. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of
hosts. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former,
saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of
hosts.” Haggai 2:6-9 KJV
4)
Prophetically speaking, I will now say that at the onset of this
near coming time we will see a mighty power and shaking through the assembly of
the overcomers. The power and shaking that will take place will reveal TRUE
assembly where the Lord alone is being exalted and this assembly will also
break apart the systems of men. For I firmly see that the coming together of
those who would overcome into this time in front of us of righteous assembly
will also reveal false assembly for what it is. And false assemblies will be
blown apart. The assembly of ourselves in this hour in front of us will be
explosive to some, gentle and peaceable to others. It will be a time when those
who are genuine with a true heart for God will be joyfully brought into
completion and those who are holding truth in unrighteousness with a form of
godliness but denying the power thereof will be discomfited and their efforts
will burn as hay in a furnace. Great noise will accompany the joining of bone
to bone and of the building of sinew and muscle and flesh on the body of the
Lord’s Army. Such is my prophecy, that even now we will begin to see this take
place, even though our numbers in assembly may still be only with one or two.
The overcomers are poised as points of light over the entire earth, and they
will assemble by the Spirit of the Lord into one fixed place from whence the
wonders will flow.
I see that our assembly is now
going to be a motion of Spirit. It will never come by us choosing to do so, but
by the Lord who does this as a sovereign move of His Royal Hand. As the King of
Kings gathers His overcomers, His Saints unto Himself, they will come forth in
absolute perfect unity.
Prior to the coming of Jesus I
see the overcomers coming into this perfect unity in the earth and that they
will stand apart from all other things in this world, religiously, politically
and finally economically. There will be just prior to the Lord’s coming no
place in this world for the overcomer but the world itself will enter a time of
great tribulation. Through this Jesus will be seen in a company, world wide, a
giant that God is raising up, even a corporate son, and this will be the event
long awaited for, even the Millennial reign of Christ over all the earth in the
age that now is dawning.
