But if I tarry long, that thou mayest
know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the
church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. And without
controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed
on in the world, received up into glory. 1Timothy 3:15-16 KJV
Blessed
be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the
God of all comfort, He comforting us in all our trouble, so that we may be able
to comfort those who are in every trouble, through the comfort with which we
ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of
To whom
then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. Lift up your
eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their
host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for
that he is strong in power; not one faileth. Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest,
O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my
God? Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the
LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?
there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and
to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint
and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the
LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they
shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah
40:25-31 KJV
THEREFORE,
[there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are
in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but
after the dictates of the Spirit. [John 3:18.] For the law of the Spirit of
life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from
the law of sin and of death. For God has done what the Law could not do, [its
power] being weakened by the flesh [the entire nature of man without the Holy
Spirit]. Sending His own Son in the guise of sinful flesh and as an offering
for sin, [ God] condemned sin in the flesh [subdued, overcame, deprived it of its
power over all who accept that sacrifice], [Lev. 7:37.] So that the righteous
and just requirement of the Law might be fully met in us who live and move not
in the ways of the flesh but in the ways of the Spirit [our lives governed not
by the standards and according to the dictates of the flesh, but controlled by
the Holy Spirit]. For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled
by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify
the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the
desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify
the [ Holy] Spirit. Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason
without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries
arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit
is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever]. [That is] because the mind of
the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it
does not submit itself to God's Law; indeed it cannot. So then those who are
living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their
carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him. But you
are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if
the [Holy] Spirit of God [really] dwells within you [directs and controls you].
But if anyone does not possess the [Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His
[he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God]. [Rom. 8:14.] But
if Christ lives in you, [then although] your [natural] body is dead by reason
of sin and guilt, the spirit is alive because of [the] righteousness [that He
imputes to you]. And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells
in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to
life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells
in you. So then, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh [we are not
obligated to our carnal nature], to live [a life ruled by the standards set up
by the dictates] of the flesh. For if you live according to [the dictates of]
the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit
you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil]
deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever. For
all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Romans 8:1-14 AMP
Now I
Paul myself entreat you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I who in your
presence am lowly among you, but being absent am of good courage toward you:
yea, I beseech you, that I may not when present show courage with the
confidence wherewith I count to be bold against some, who count of us as if we
walked according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war
according to the flesh (for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh,
but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds), casting down
imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of
God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ; and
being in readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience shall be
made full. Ye look at the things that are before your face. If any man trusteth
in himself that he is Christ's, let him consider this again with himself, that,
even as he is Christ's, so also are we. For though I should glory somewhat
abundantly concerning our authority (which the Lord gave for building you up,
and not for casting you down), I shall not be put to shame: that I may not seem
as if I would terrify you by my letters. 2 Cor 10:1-9 ASV
In nothing be anxious; but in everything by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto
God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your
hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things
are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are
of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on
these things. The things which ye both learned and received and heard and saw
in me, these things do: and the God of peace shall be with you. Philippians
4:6-9 ASV
(2 Visions)
“Lifted up then and carried unto the area
near the Throne I saw before the Lord the nations gathered. Above the Lord high
atop the atmosphere above this scene was the sight of the terrible crystal, the
ceiling above which there was much movement in the heavens, thunders and
lightning and a great noise, voices and the sounds of people in worship and in
praise of He who sat upon the Throne. It was there, upon the Throne that my
eyes did behold the Lord, even God Almighty the Ancient of Days. Before Him the
vast expanse was filled with the multitude of nations, all nations in present
time, even in our very day. God did separate the nations dividing them one from
another and placing them where they were ordained before the foundation of the
world to be placed. This placing and this dividing by the hands of the Creator
was different from what man has known before because this time the Lord was
preparing them all for His great deliverance which would come from His
impending judgments. This deliverance and this timing and this dividing and
placing of the nations was happening in real time, in front of my eyes and was
set in such a way as to show me that the Lord has now poised everything into
place in order to finish His work and to complete the age and to bring about
His Kingdom and righteousness and those who have gained place with Him in that
very same Kingdom. The nations then were poised to enter into this which The
Ancient of Days is about to do in bringing swiftly to an end the time of peril
which the earth has entered into.”
(End Vision)
“The Lord in preparing the nations for the
promise of His age of peace and the Kingdom of God went about upon the earth to
remove idols from it, those things which would steal away the hearts of the
nations to not come to know the Lord or his knowledge or to find out the things
from the Lord that are related to His everlasting Kingdom. So the Lord did walk
forth upon the earth in our time, in real time, this vision was being shown to
me in present real time by the Holy Spirit and it was given so that you may
know that you may have hope and that you may be certain of a successful end to
your faith in the culmination of His promises to all they that would call upon
the Lord. So the Lord went forth and He found in the midst of the nations an
altar built upon which men would place their sacrifices. The Lord in wrath did
dig down this altar of stones and did destroy it and compress it and cast it
back into the depths of the earth so that the altar stood no more and so that
man could no longer offer sacrifices upon it. Beside this altar were two
pillars in front of an earthly temple, these also did the Lord in wrath begin
to push apart and destroy and to break down and to bring to naught all the
stones which had been piled on top of one another to form this earthly temple.
So the Lord then in going forth did not accept as righteous or as godly the
altar or the temple that man had built in the name of their gods. The Lord
destroyed them completely so that nothing of them could be rebuilt or remain.”
(End
Vision)
Continuing on in the study of the Mystery of Godliness. In prior study of this I mentioned that one cannot define Godliness. However I would like to share an attribute of Godliness that pleases the Lord and is acceptable unto Him. This would then become the closest thing to a definition of Godliness that one can put into understanding and that is that Godliness, in our time, is being displayed without many words to express it by definition.
Here is the closest thing to a definition of Godliness that one can define in this hour.
1)
That if
the presence and the knowledge of God in the midst of the soul has waned -
2)
That as
His presence has become obscure to one’s understanding and to ones faith -
3)
That as
this presence has been in actuality the Lord hiding Himself from us -
Then we would know this definition. That the
more the Lord is not made aware in you by His presence, and the more that you
simply hold on to simple faith, that that exercise alone is the most Godly
thing an Overcomer can do. There is nothing more Godly in this world and more
of a definition of Godliness then to have faith in God, believing that He is,
even with no conscious awareness that the Lord is present in the soul. This is
exactly where the Lord wants us at this time in our earthly sojourn prior to
the coming of Christ.
But
without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must
believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6
The world of men has grown exceedingly dark,
the earth is covered with gross darkness and all faces have gathered blackness.
The world of men is overtaken by false gods and false 5 fold ministries that
claim the presence of God as theirs when in fact it is not God. In the world of
Christendom, false ministry abounds and there are multitudes of preachers who
have forsaken the preaching of the cross for crass materialism and miracles,
signs and wonders which the antichrist spirits of our day are most ready to
give freely to all those who give ground to such things. In the above
definition of Godliness, one cannot have pure faith alone in God while
experiencing the waning of His presence without the continual in-worked power
of the cross. If you look at an Overcomer, the cross is paramount in them; it
is bearing in them the marks and the sufferings of crucifixion. If you look at
the leadership in Christendom, there is no cross, the cross is absent and
replacing that cross is prosperity miracles signs and wonders. Powers that are
strong enough to slay multitudes under their control. These who are of Christendom’s
candour are far from the cross, they have no knowledge of it nor does the cross
cause them to become a despised enemy of the world. But the true Overcomer has
faith alone in God in spite of the fact that the presence of God at this time
is absent, and in that faith the all consuming power of the cross continues to
kill off all that is fleshly in them. So with this being said I wish to share a
personal experience I had these past few weeks which showed forth the
temptation that we endure in this hour. In sharing this I must reveal the
difference between the spirit of the Lord and the carnal mind and how it is we
are to walk in love and not in carnality (worldly minded).
I have learned in the many long decades of my
walk with the Lord to not listen to the thoughts of my natural thinking mind.
Allow me space to define that. The natural thinking mind is the only place
where principality and power and the spirits of wickedness on high can attack
your spiritual walk. The natural thinking mind is the only place where excuses are
birthed and wherein men are able to refute faith and walk in reason. It is in
the mind that one becomes deceived and enters into a defiled spiritual walk in
deception. The mind wars continually without stopping against ones faith. It is
in the mind that the groundwork is already in place for vain foolish
imaginations and the lust after all that this world can afford. When the
scriptures come across in your understanding the mind is there to argue against
what the scriptures teach and the mind is the power of bondage and death to
disallow the freedom that scriptures can give to set one free in their
spiritual walk. Every time the Lord would speak to a soul, the mind is there to
counter that speech. Every time the Lord would rise up and be revealed in a
soul the mind is there to accuse and to remind the person of their own fault
and guilt and sin and to refute the Lord rising in them because the mind
accuses them of wrong. This is the carnal mind. It is the mind which heaps up
the wealth of the world unto itself, or at least tries to. It is the mind which
creates man’s governments, man’s philosophies, man’s reasoning. This mind is
the mind that contradicts perfectly all that God would say and do in the soul
or spirit of a person all so that the mind can control the person rather than
the Lord controlling the person. The mind rises up to condemn and confuse and
contradict all that comes by the Lord into ones understanding. This rising up
of the mind can be so strong and so swift that the entire thing the Lord would
have given in understanding is immediately removed and lost and forgotten. That
is how powerful the mind is in resisting your forward progress in God. It is
this mind that the Lord has taught me to not listen to. I do not respond to it.
I do not give it place in me. I say NO to that mind working in me in decisive
power. Instead I keep myself in the spirit of the Lord by faith even though the
presence of the Lord at this time is absent from me. This is how I walk.
The natural mind will take the trials of your
life, those who resist you and accuse you, those you have become divided from,
their words and their thoughts, and these your own natural mind will take and
use them as a springboard to conclude you as unworthy of the Lord. The natural
mind will cause you to listen more to the negative accusations of this present
evil world rather than the gentle presence of the Lamb of God in your heart.
The mind makes great noise causing the quiet stillness of Christ in you to be
drowned out by such vehement rage that comes by carnal reasoning. If a brother
or sister in Christ comes to you and accuses you of a fault and has a “Thus
saith the Lord” which is a corrective condemning admonition against your
present faith in Christ, that word that comes by them becomes the method and
means of your own mind bringing you into reams of condemnation and sorrow. It
is there that depression sets in and one becomes weary of life itself. One
forgets the doctrine that states that Christ has become our Godliness, Christ
has become our righteousness. The mind instead becomes a whore which martyrs
any comings forth of Christ in your faith. This is the very mind that the
Overcomer must conquer BY IGNORING IT.
So a few days ago as I went about my day and
went out for a walk with the Lord something happened. An unholy spirit came to
me. This unholy spirit spoke into my mind. You see dear reader; the mind is the
element in you that is joined to the world of iniquity. It is the ground upon
which the accuser of the brethren stands. The mind is the beast getting power
from the dragon. This mind which you have is your fleshly mind, it is alive in
you, not dead and it accuses you and kills any risings up of Jesus in you. So
this spirit came to me, this unholy spirit. Here is what this spirit said to
me. I cannot remember it word for word so allow me to paraphrase it so that you
can understand what happened to me and which allowed me to know the will of God
in this hour. The spirit came to me and said in essence, in my mind, that I
would not have had the persecutions and problems and troubles I have had all
the years of my life if I would not
have been determined to serve the Lord in faith.
* - “Look
at what has happened unto you!”
* “You
have been hurt and maimed and cursed by multitudes of people and have lost
friends and those close to you and even your own extended family does not
believe you are a man of God!”
* - “Look
at the servants of the Lord that are in churches and who evangelize, how
wealthy they are with money and things they need to do their ministry and there
you are always in want and always only having just enough and no more!”
* - “This
is what you get for serving the Lord, a life of heartache and tribulation and
trials and rejections of every sort, why, you have barely any friends left!”
So this spirit chided me as I walked along
the road accusing me. The spirit went on.
* - “Look
at how God has forsaken you! You do not know or perceive His presence! That is
because God had to leave you because you are a vile man, a wicked man, a man
who ministers and prophesies unto the body of Christ falsely and is leading
them all into deception!”
* - “God
has left you until later because He has to cast you alive into the lake that
burns with fire and brimstone to rid you of your many lies! All liars burn in
that lake!”
* - “Not
only this, but look at how many other ministers of the gospel won’t even talk
to you or call you or send you letters or speak to you because they all know
you are false and wicked and deceiving God’s people and causing God’s people to
go astray!”
* - “You
are a false prophet just like Balaam was a false prophet and you are causing
God’s people to sin and to love the world rather than God because you do not
know God!”
After I listened to this spirit, the Holy
Spirit rose in me with a simple half sentence statement. “These thoughts are
only in your mind,”. This half sentence could have had more added unto it by
the Holy Spirit, but it was not necessary because understanding flooded my soul
and I knew exactly how it was that I’d come to this place where the accuser of
the brethren could wickedly attack my thinking mind. Immediately I knew as I’ve
known before to not regard my own thoughts nor to give them place but to put
them all behind me, as soon as I had that understanding I overcame all the
accusations of this spirit.
My purpose in this edition of The Mystery of
Godliness was not to draw attention to myself but only to use myself as an
example just as the Apostle Paul used his life as an example for the early
church. We have now to rise only in faith, even if we are not aware of the Lord’s
presence, and to not listen to all the reasoning and accusations that come
through the natural thinking mind. Your life is based on Christ in you, the
hope of Glory, not the thoughts you think. Order this as a “right” conversation
in you so that you may know how to walk by the spirit, I will have more to say
on this in upcoming issues.
The visions above speak to us of God’s
sovereign control in spite of the hour of peril we live in. Know dear reader
that you are part of this great plan, which nothing in your life will be found
short if you only keep faith, in the eyes of the Lord, this is the godliest
thing an Overcomer can do.
